To note- I heard an extrovert in your room say the same thing about being cautious to open up because they didn’t know what people‘s intentions were. Maybe trust is general to human behavior not explicitly introverts?
I agree it's true for some more cautious extroverts - I could definitely see it among some MBTI + enneagram combinations. I find it's more common probabilistically among introverts as a trait but it's not absolute. The other possible explanation is that the majority of extrovert cohorts build trust faster. Personal experiences could also affect trust issues that are disassociated from MBTI.
