How do you become exponentially happier? Repeat activities that have consistent, compounding or cascading positive impact. I’ll go through what each of these things means one by one.
Consistent Positive Impact - The activity leads to consistent positive utility of different degrees without negative variation.
Compounding Positive Impact - The activity leads to additional compounding benefits the each time the action is taken. Greater iteration and repetition leads to 1^x growth in utility, where x > 1.
Cascading Positive Impact - Actions lead to positive effects in multiple parts of your life simultaneously. One activity, multiple benefits across a cross section of your life.
I’ll provide some examples to make these ideas more tangible.
Consistent Positive Impact - You go to yoga class and it provides stress relief after every single class. This positive effect occurs every class with no negative variation.
Compounding Positive Impact - You go to yoga class which makes you more pliable. This pliability allows you to go to yoga more often which further increases your pliability.
Cascading Positive Impact - You go to yoga class and it increases flexibility, strength while reducing stress. You also enter flow state which increasing your capacity for deep thinking and work. One activity yielding positive returns across a cross section of your life.
Here are examples I’ve found that are true for myself.
Consistent
Seeing a new art exhibit
Compounding
Practicing a useful but non-enjoyable or boring skill
Cascading
Interactions with people you encounter frequently

The most productive activities to figure out are from the last category. What leads to consistent, compounding and cascading benefits for you? When in doubt, just repeat those activities over and over again.
